Cosmetic Dentistry

There are different types of treatments to improve the smile. Each one has to be indicated by a specialist and personalized for each patient:

  • Dental whitening (in the clinic and at home).

  • Ceramic and composite veneers.

  • Closure of black spaces (black triangles) between teeth and gums.

  • Closure of diastemas (gaps between teeth).

Tooth Whitening

Teeth whitening allows for a noticeable improvement in the color of the teeth, lightening their shade and giving them a whiter and brighter appearance. They are indicated for patients who notice darkening of their teeth due to repeated consumption of coffee, tobacco, red wine, etc., cases of staining from medications, or simply for those patients who want to sport a movie-star smile.

Teeth whitening treatments are not abrasive to the tooth as long as quality whitening products are used and applied properly and controlled by a qualified professional. That's why it's important to have prior consultation for each case and to avoid any supposedly instant and magical whitening product or treatment on the market.

In general, there are 2 types of whitening: those done in the dental office and those that can be done at home. In-office treatments usually require 1 or 2 sessions, and home treatments require more sessions and are done using trays.

Since it is an aesthetic treatment, it is very important to have good oral health before undergoing it, and it is contraindicated in patients with untreated oral pathology.

Veneers

Dental veneers are very thin sheets of composite or ceramic designed individually for each patient, which are placed on the tooth to improve its appearance and give it a more beautiful appearance. Nowadays, thanks to advances in dentistry, veneer placement does not always involve shaving down the tooth, but rather, through the application of minimally invasive dental techniques, the surface is lightly prepared to effectively adhere the veneer.

The goal of veneers is to enhance the aesthetics of the smile, creating natural-looking smiles that suit each individual.

There are two main types of veneers based on the material they are made of:

  • Composite veneers, which can be done directly in the mouth in one or two sessions.

  • Ceramic veneers, which require a minimum of 2 sessions because they involve custom fabrication in a laboratory.
