Endodontics in Moraira

This procedure, commonly known as root canal treatment, involves completely or partially removing the affected dental pulp, leaving the root canal or root clean and free of bacteria.

Although decay is the main cause of inflammation and infection of dental nerves, there are also other reasons to resort to this treatment: trauma, fractures, abrasion, wear... which are associated with specific symptoms:

  • Dental sensitivity to cold and heat

  • Gum inflammation

  • Discomfort when chewing

  • Change in tooth color

Step by Step Endodontics

Although endodontic treatment is a relatively straightforward procedure, it involves several phases to ensure an effective outcome.

Firstly, at our Dental Clinic, we conduct a thorough intraoral examination along with necessary X-rays to formulate a comprehensive diagnosis that determines the appropriate treatment. Once the procedure is determined, we proceed with the endodontic treatment.

This is always performed under local anesthesia. Our professionals must ensure that the area is not inflamed or infected beforehand. If it is, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories may be prescribed before the intervention.

During the endodontic procedure, our dentists access the dental pulp through a perforation in the crown of the tooth. Then, they remove the infected tissue and clean the root canals. Once the area is disinfected, the obturation phase finally arrives. This involves filling and sealing the cleaned root canals with inert material.

In some cases, tooth reconstruction may be necessary. Following endodontic treatment, our professionals will schedule a follow-up appointment with the patient to restore the affected tooth and restore its original appearance.
